CONTEXT: The mobile app of the Vancouver Public Library is out
of date with the style/identity and functionality of the library’s website.
I took this as an opportunity to create a possible redesign of its visual and functionality.
Public survey data revealed the top 3 priorities for library users are:
access to a large assortment of materials
aide when seeking information
programs and events
REFERENCE ANALYSIS AND SKETCHING
To best match the style of the library’s existing website I identified their key visual
components, use of hierarchy and colour.
This was followed by a mapping of the current app’s information architecture,
then sketching wireframes for the redesign.
I mapped out the information architecture to spot key features that were out of place,
drew new wireframes and identified the palette and typeface for the redesign.
